hey, there's nothing wrong with pushing trolleys around a car park! i far prefer it to being stuck on tills for 8 hours on a sunday when i'm hungover, although i guess that's not saying much.

speaking of forums, i was never on the MD board (save for 2 or 3 posts) but i quite like this place... it's always one of my first ports of call on the internet. i also post on the biffy forum, which is not bad because i know a few people on there "IRL". i used to post on the foals forum for a few months when it started, but the sheer number of incoherent pre-pubescents eventually became too much. i've also started posting on a rolo tomassi forum (i'm a moderator, in fact) but nobody's really on there yet.

Where's Count Cockula when you need him?

Anyway, we all need to find some other rock band that we all love. Even after MD broke there was a time when we'd arrange massive trips to London to see Blood Brothers, all staying in Del's shed. Who else would we do that for now? Bear vs Shark might've done it if they hadn't broken up before their UK tour the other year.

These Arms Are Snakes, anyone? Gay For Johnny Depp?

I don't know.

Fucking hell, every band I was going to suggest have either disbanded or are now shit (For the former c.f. MMISL, Reuben, HiFH and for the latter, well, Hundred Reasons.)

These Arms Are Snakes are a good idea...they tour fairly regularly as well. Um, count me in?

I guess the other thing to do is start making more threads on the gigs section if there's an individual gig/tour that looks set to be popular (on here) and going from there rather than using the "non-frank gigs" thread. Might clutter that section up a bit though.

Well, that's me out of ideas.

Commence the legal wranglings involving my current contract. Anyone on here an expert in contract law? No?

Sort of. What clause is troubling you?

It's a long story. BASICALLY - The last signed contract I have is 7 years old and for a 'supervisor' role. I have since progressed to Assistant Manager and now Manager. Said contract says I must give 'ONE WEEKS NOTICE'. I have, kind of, verbally agreed a new contract to start end of March. My Personell manager is adamant I have to give four weeks, which is the standard for managers. ALSO, they owe me two weeks holiday.

I will be seeking advice from Citizens advice.

This is advisable. It sounds like they may be trying to play the "custom and practice" card (ie: managers always give 4 weeks notice, every manager has done this, therefore it's an implied term of employment). Keep a log of any notable events that occur at work from now on, in the event it goes to dispute.

Yep, congrats Kenny.

With regards notice, etc. I would just make sure you keep in touch with Morrisons and let them know what's going on as well. 4 weeks notice would only mean you are a week behind potential start date i'm guessing? Hopefully wouldn't be such a problem unless they have prescribed start dates each month? Also, try and negotiate with personnel, if you have two weeks holiday left just say that you will work the 4 weeks notice and take the two weeks holiday owed to you as that is your legal entitlement. They could offer to pay you the two weeks and insist you work but they're fucking idiots if they do as it is in no one's interest - it takes away your motivation to do your job for the next four weeks (even more than i imagine already!) and means they are paying someone to effectively stand there doing nothing... Although i guess this is good training for being a frozen manager... BOOM BOOM!

Several things -

1) Well done Kenny! Hope they don't try and dick you over. You should be alright. I'm doing employment law at the moment so I could try and do a bit of research for you if you want? Bear in mind I'm a 'tard, 'howevs'.

2) http://www.sporcle.com/games/pokemon.php Is it wrong that, after about 45 minutes of continously trying, I can now name all 151? Beats doing coursework, innit.

3) Got a letter from Virgin this week warning us about illegal music downloading. They attached a list of all the shit we were getting done for and, y'know what, we were getting warned over one song and one song only. And it was by Kanye West. Fuck's sake. When I told my housemate to stop being a cock, his response was:

"It can't have been me as I downloaded the whole album, not just that song. I didn't download the song on its own so it wasn't me". What the fuck? I was speechless at the use of such logic.

Thanks Kanye West.
