You going to Twin atlantic at classic grand?
FR are also supporting biffy at the secc in december... going to that?

i still haven't got around to properly listening to twin atlantic, so at the moment, no... i might get tickets at some point though. i should probably hurry up a bit, as i imagine they'll sell out classic grand fairly quickly.

Very true, although it's quite repetitive; run somewhere, collect something/beat someone up/chase AND beat someone up, run away, repeat it's still good fun and different. I rented it from work before it came out last week, got just over halfway in a couple days, would have completed it had I not had to cover for a sick colleague, hmph.

I saw that they were supporting biffy yeah - but I'm hosting a christmas party that night at my flat/I'm not a biffy fan. So nope.

Yeah I need to get my classic grand ticket still, I'm not betting on it still having tickets by the time i get money/can make it to the ticket shop. Fingers crossed though!

haha, fair enough... kinda surprised you're not a biffy fan for some reason.

in the time since my last post, i've texted round some friends to see who was up for twin atlantic. turns out a few people were, so i just went ahead and got three tickets. then after i bought them, one of the guys decided he couldn't afford it (bastard). you can have that one if you want?

i dunno, they're ok but I wouldn't go crazy over them. Some of their songs are dire, the rest I'm not mad about.

Will most likely take you up on that offer, I just need to send a quick text myself and I'll let you know tomorrow

I appreciate the theory of this, but it doesn't seem to be happening in practice. Tenants still seem to wield the power in the market.

If you increase rent on a tenant, and they choose to move elsewhere, your agent takes (at least) the new tenant's first month's rent as commission. This means mathematically if you increase your rent by less than 9% (1/12th) and they leave, you lose all the revenue from the planned increase on the agent's commission. If you increase your rent by more than 9% they'll almost certainly look elsewhere, and you actually only see the revenue from the bit above 9% from the new tenant. The more uncompetitive your increase is, the less likely you'll fill the place quickly, and you lose a full month's rent each month from an empty property. It seems to me that smart landlords realise it's generally safer to keep a happy tenant you already have than to take the risk seeking out a more profitable one.
This is correct. Despite lots of people postponing buying and increasing rental demands, this is just those who would have been first time buyers, as anyone who already owns a home would be crazy to sell and rent. Thus the market is increased by the number of first time buyers not buying but this is more than compensated by the new homes / renovations being completed / buy to lets becoming available that would (in the case of the first two) been used as sale properties but now being rented to avoid incurring losses. The higher up the market you go, the better the discounts available as the less people there are looking. We essentially got a 35% discount on what our place went on the market for originally.

We live in a box farm at the moment, going to go to town on them tonight... Need everything sorted for people coming over for footie on Wednesday...

Got Football Manager 2009 through the post this morning. Actually going to die with excitement.... but am working 'til 4.

I've read that there has been lots of problems registering the game, which is essential to play the game apparently. Fucking hope not!
