Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread
Sounds nom! I can make the food, but I could do with my family.
That's ok though, because I was prepared to be a miseryguts, and today turned out better than unicorn farts and rainbows.
So there's that.

Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread
I'm sure we could find a way to FedEx at least one family member or friend. There's gotta be a way to do it.
Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread
My resignation is public! I have a four week notice period, so I'm here till 1st January. Thus begins the long, slow goodbye.
Also, public transport is shit and I hate everybody who marinates in perfume and gets on a train. Second time in two days I've been subjected to some twat doing that.

Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread
That it is. I managed to live without a car until about the age of maybe about 23 or 24, and South Florida public transportation is AWFUL. Just... like if they were actively trying to make it the least positive experience possible (and I haven't ruled that out) they couldn't possibly be more successful at making it suck.Gleena wrote:Also, public transport is shit
I will never be without a car unless I move to some civilized place where they have real public transport.
Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread
When I lived in the US (MS, TN, CA, MS, CA, MI, NV and CA respectively) I always drove. Now I live in Sydney and it's too expensive and stupid to drive, presuming you can find a place to park on the other end. I have a car but I drive to the farmer's market and to get my dry cleaning once a week and that's about it. We have real public transport, but it's outdated and our government has the forward planning skills of a retarded ape, so it's a bit clunky. Still, I prefer it now and I'm in heaps better shape from walking everywhere.lareinedeslames wrote:That it is. Drunk and sunburnt. Spent the day on Sydney Harbour, getting paid to cruise. Managed to slip some of Mr. Turner's music onto the party playlist, where it was well recieved.
This is going to hurt so much tomorrow.

Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread
Oh my lord I’m sick again
More antibiotics in the hope to mend
My crazy cough, and pounding head
Plus sore throat makes me long for bed
Tissues - I’ve used a ton
Enough Vapour rub for everyone
Fleece blankets and cosy socks
Hot-water bottles, I use those lots
I’m trying to snuggle in my little den
But the cough interrupts and then
My nose starts running, more tissues please
I wish this dratted thing would leave
Steam baths, herbal teas, eucalyptus oil
Waiting, again, for the kettle to boil
Honey and lemon and aspirin too
Chicken soup and cough syrup goo…
It needs to leave in the next two days
So I can go out with friends I’ve made,
See, I’ve a gig to go to Saturday night
And I’ll only go if I’m alright
Trying everything I can think of
To get well for the band I love
There’s no way I’ll go if I’m sick
Don’t want to be a dick
I’d hate for the band to get this too
Or in fact - any of you
Anyone think of anything I’ve missed?
Any bright ideas or top tricks?
Hope I make it to Nottingham for NMA
But if I’m sick, I’ll see them on another day
Thanks in advance for any advice
I’m submerging back into my cocoon, it’s nice

Lots of garlic and ginger--both have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help speed the process of recovery. Make sure you're drinking WAY more fluids than you think you need; whenever I start getting sick I drink about a liter and a half of gatorade (or another sports drink with electrolytes) every day.Bella wrote:Anyone think of anything I’ve missed?

Another tip is make sure you're getting a ton of vitamin C, but don't take it all at once; if you do, it'll just go out with the bathwater (so to speak) instead of actually helping. If you can get a vitamin C powder drink, add it to a liter of water and drink it over the course of a day.
Also, hold off a bit on any non-antibiotics medicines you're taking; while they suppress the symptoms, they slow down healing time. A spoonful of honey has been documented to work equally well to most OTC cough suppressants--and no side-effects!
(can you tell I've gotten sick MANY times in my life?)
Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread
ahhhh ginger! Thank you!
yep - i think I have one sachet of ginger tea left from singapore... mmmmmmmmmmmmm yum.
garlic - I've been eating so much of it its hard to tell what I smell of most, garlic or menthol
I'm fairly sure every time I cough another vampire expires as my personal cloud of garlic/menthol spreads across the land

been drinking water/lucozade and rehydrate sachets (I get dehyrated easily) also rosemary and/or thyme tea. I've had a few of these cough/cold/bugs recently but this one is by far the worst.
time for more steam I think....

Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread
Going on a cruise for the annual company "holiday party," today. Never been on a cruise before, so should be interesting. Since we're only working a half day today, and since I don't have to cover the front desk, I got permission to work from home--not that I really have anything to do for the next 3 hours.
But I will be getting to leave the country again (and maybe get another stamp in my passport before it expires next year!) and I'm told cruises are a lot of fun. Everything except my alcohol is paid for... so I am going to be broke come Monday.

I got my new tattoo, see? http://i.imgur.com/60q8aEg.jpg?1 She is Justitia, the Lady Justice. Down the side of my (ample) left thigh.
She's awesome and I love my artist.
The groin pull from holding a weird position (and possibly tensing up like all hell cause it hurt)? That's worse than the the pain from the tattoo itself. Ow.

We are no longer 25, with apologies to Marwoo.
Some of us (me) are 45. It was a pretty ace night, friends, food and wine.
