had never heard of one before, so I wikipedia'd it, and it looks like someone who shares your opinion has edited the page ever so slightly. Hope it hasn't been changed:

EDIT: it's been changed, but here's what it said.

I ran my first 5k yesterday. OK, I walked a bit on some of the hills. Who the fuck designs a race course with big hills and the final mile all uphill, especially the final .2 miles? Insanely hard for me, the turtle runner. Being that it was the Komen race for the cure (breast cancer) I set my iphone playlist to Long Live The Queen for the final push. Made me think of all the friends I've lost, and the reasons why I started this journey to run. So Frank, you were in my ear as I ran across the finish.

Thanks Kristy. I can't imagine running a marathon, but I'm going to keep working on the running and keep improving, aiming for a decent 5k time with no walking at all, even on hills. This particular 5k is the ahrdest in the state because of the hils (or so I've been told by other runners).

The winers were 16 year old guys who finished in just over 15 minutes. My husband says that they cruised in as if they hadn't run at all, didn't look tired at all. I was impressed by a military guy running, pushing a double stroller with 2 kids (strollers were not allowed but a few didn't care) wearing fatigues, full miliarty backpack, and his combat boots. On his pack were about 6-8 pink ribbons with names on them. Yep, he passed me. Like I said, I'm slow, but I'm working on it. I've been working towards this for 9 weeks. First time I actually rn a full 5k distance was last week, and while I did walk a few sections in the race, I still finished a couple minutes faster than my training run where I ran the whole way. I'm sure that was part of my problem, that I couldn't settle into my pace and was running too fast.

Congrats! You going to have a go at another race, now? All the races I've done, listening to music is banned, so I have to play tunes inside my head instead. :)
