Re: The Weakerthans Are Gone But We Are Not

Great cover, my man. I always feel that I am the boy in that winter coat (in the cargo section of a station wagon). In fact, just today, I thought of changing my S/N to "lies_and_gasoline".

The world needs to hear the end of the Virtute saga, non?

Re: Old DC Venues

I like the new 9:30 a lot. My only problem is that the beer is a little too good. I've had a few shows ruined as I kept A/B-ing Brooklyn Black Stout vs. Rasputin all night. *urp*

Wow. Haven't heard them before. Awesome. I'm into greasy rock like that. Thanks.

Old DC Venues

Just wondering if you ever got to the DC Space or the old 9:30. I just saw The Replacements. Paul was reminiscing about the 9:30. Ah, the smell. Ah the polls obstructing our view...

Can't hardly wait for the Ram's Head show...

Re: Top 10 Favorite Songs

Cool lists. My point is that we like what we like. If we forget to worry about what others think, we can have a good time. Kplusc, have you listened to the Milkmen's "Punk Rock Girl" really, really hard? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyaK3jo4Sl4 I'm proud to say I've been to Zipperhead...and Comma...

I think the second was Saturday Night Live soundtrack. That was expensive - two LPs.
Wow. Bobby Sherman. For my wife's birthday party I took all her friends' 12th birthdays and bought them a Tiger Beat from about that time. One woman had Bobby on the cover.

I would say to read Tolstoy's "Three Questions" and then act accordingly.

It helps me most every day.

Top 10 Favorite Songs

When people are asked to name their favorite book, they most often name something far off the radar of most every Lunchbox Johnny, lest they be seen as a shallow idiot. I'm not sure why but their first reflex is to spit out something either esoteric or of great importance...."The History of Angolian...

Craig Finn (THS Frontman)

The Hold Steady frontman has a new album out. I felt a bit guilty about getting his last two discs from the library. I may or may not have bought a delicious item from PledgeMusic ;) http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/craigfinn Also, if you are in Baltimore, make sure you see him. If it sells out. ...

Re: Fantasy Album

The Hold Steady. Très coo-el. Personally, I'd go with "Your Little Hoodrat Friend". I'm a sucker for concept albums. Jason Isbell. Mah MAN! Again, I tear up to him playing "Outfit" on his recent live album. Sam Cooke. To say anything about this song would be to diminish it. Enjoy. https://vimeo.com/...

What Music Did You First Buy with your Own Money?

I was such a loner. My mom was worried. She felt I needed to connect with music. She hauled me to a record store and we couldn't leave until I left with an album. I chose "The Eagles Live". Not a bad choice in retrospect. However, the first thing I bought with my own cash was a Kay-Tel compilation d...

I'm sad, too. They were on my short list of bands to see.

*ahem* Our heroine, Virtuté, is out there living on Cheeto crumbs and mouse tails. We need S O M E O N E to finalize her journey. Right now she is like Schrödinger's cat. For better or worse, we need closure.

No Lucinda Williams? ;)

I'll fight to the death if anybody dare say that Pogues' "Broad Majestic Shannon" isn't the greatest song in the Western Cannon.

Re: Introvert or Extrovert?

I asked because Frank's songs are very introspective.

I spent 23 years with muscular headaches so bad my teeth hurt. I'm not sure how I made it out alive. These were due to the fact that I am a cat, raised among dogs, acting as a dog. Meow.
