Re: UK Tour - November

I'll be at Southampton on both Friday and Saturday (don't judge me - I'm taking different groups of friends each night, or at least that's my excuse). If you see a short-arsed brunette down the front, either (a) singing along to Will Varley, (b) dancing like a lunatic to Skinny Lister or (c) doing b...

Re: New cd reviews...........

I appreciate I'm probably preaching to the converted on this forum, but the new Will Varley album really is insanely good. I've listened to literally nothing else all week, something which hasn't happened since . . . well, PSFNP! Hard to single out any one track as they're all so impressive, but the...

Re: What album would you like to cover?

August and Everything After was the soundtrack of my teenage years so I'd wholeheartedly endorse that.

But first things first - surely there's a Chas & Dave tribute CD just begging to be recorded . . . ?!

UK tour supports

According to this interview:

http://youtu.be/r06vV4_5QiE

it looks like being the dream combination of Skinny Lister and (the phenomenal) Will Varley. Could a line up be more perfect?

I've never been one to wish the summer away but November is suddenly looking like a ridiculously good month!

Re: PSFNP

Me too - how could I leave Song for Josh off my list above? Devastating and beautiful.

Re: PSFNP

And it's launch day! So let's get the ball rolling - it's chuffing brilliant (as my neighbours will attest - but if iTunes will email me at midnight, it'd be rude not to download and listen straight away, right?). On the first couple of listens, Josephine, Demons and Silent Key hit me as standout tr...

Re: Anyone going to Meonfest next weekend?

There can't be many festivals where the headliner's mum directs you to your parking space, or where the first act on stage is the local primary school band. But Meonfest was a blast, just as chilled and quirky as last year. Frank was as amazing as ever - not quite sure how he managed it after his tw...

Re: Anyone going to Meonfest next weekend?

I'll be there - with friends rather than kids so you'll find me doing some brilliant dancing (ahem) down the front - but I hope a Forum meet up will be on the cards for those of us going!

Re: UK pre sale

I was hoping for the Soton Guildhall too - but as its 9:30 and I still haven't had my presale email, I'm guessing the odds are slim. If anyone wants me, I'll be doing my best begging over on the Ticket Exchange thread . . .

Re: PSFNP

It does make me chuckle that Frank's had a Number 1 bestselling book before a Number 1 album. But I have no doubt that PSFNP will get there - especially if my profligate internet shopping habits are anything to go by (I inadvertently ended up with nine copies of the book. I really must learn to read...

Meonfest

Having just about recovered from yesterday's immense PSFNP excitement, can we also turn our minds to the other announcement of the day: Meonfest! MEONFEST!! It was hugely fun last year - a small, intimate mini-festival in a beautiful location. Some great local bands (now including FT in the most hom...

Re: Non-Frank Gigs

True to form, Will Varley was ridiculously good at the Railway last night. His new songs sounded incredible, and he dealt admirably with the world's most persistent heckler (note to would-be hecklers: when you leave part-way through to go to the bar and your departure is met with whispered cries of ...

Re: New album

'Get Better' definitely does it for me. Having just faced down the toughest six months of my adult life, the timing couldn't have been better for it to become my new personal anthem (apologies to my neighbours for the number of times they must have now heard it . . .) I'm getting stupidly excited ab...

Re: RAH

Still reeling from how incredible last night was. Five hours of driving (including a joyous run-in with a drunk driver), aching limbs and no voice left this morning, but totally worth it. The supports were awesome - and so excited for Will Varley joining XMR - and a truly phenomenal set from Frank a...

Re: RAH

Will Varley is the perfect addition to the line up - can't wait to see him in such a fantastic venue. And am I the only one quietly hoping for a rendition of 'Balthazar' tonight? I know the RAH isn't quite a music hall, but it would seem like a lovely place to hear that song. Very excited for tonigh...
