Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread

My Corporations Law paper will not defeat me.

IT WILL NOT DEFEAT ME!!

Directors duties are a bitch, though. And I'm having trouble giving a shit. I'm also planning my sons' 18th birthday party this weekend, which will be fantastic. I raised an adult(ish) man. Go me!

I'm so sorry Cassie. That's awful. Look after yourself. Grieve, cry, do what you have to do to let go and start over.

All the best, you have my sympathies.

Re: Books?

The Road was a great book, but the single most relentlessly depressing thing I have ever read. Perfect description of the book. I very seldom cry and feel utterly forlorn throughout, when reading a book, but this one, was it. Gee, you guys really know how to know how to accentuate the positive. I c...

Re: Books?

Anyone have a good dystopia to recommend? "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. I can't tell you how moving this book is. Basically a man and his son struggle to survive an apocalyptic event. Must read. It was also a movie with Viggo Mortensen. But of course didn't stack up to the book. The Road was a gre...

I am so glad you're feeling better, Bella, and that your trip was fun. Yeay! Getting away from it all sounds grand

I have a paper due next week. Corporations law. It's exactly as interesting as it sounds.

Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread

I have completely lost my mind. After spending the last ten years forging out a career, building a business and actually succeeding, I am seriously considering giving it all up to train as a doctor. God, writing it down makes it sound even more ridiculous! Been on the phone to admissions tutors all...

He was aiming for rush hour but the time difference and jet lag were in your favor.
I'm sure I heard his howl of rage as he realised his mistake. It's quite distinctive. It sounds like the chorus to "Casual Threats.."

Re: 10 years ago - a post about mental illness

Thank you for your post, Marowak. I read it and I forwarded it to my best friend, who was hospitalised twice last year for mental health issues.

I'm very glad you came through the other side.

Re: BOYCOTT FRANK TURNER!

The boycott is going great. I haven't been to one of his gigs so far this month. I've been successfully boycotting him since last April. I'm sure he's the one that arranged for my umbrella to get turned inside out by the wind this morning and then dumped ice-cold-freezing water from the awning abov...

Re: The "Everything Is Shit" Thread

had to call an ambulance the other night - not impressed! They were lovely, but really not what I wanted to be doing at 4am kidney infection - you should see the size of the antibiotics they gave me - yeuk. bad timing - supposed to be away on Monday, unlikely to go now, still in pain, very dizzy an...

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me, Frank, I appreciate it. :) JerseyGirl, Frank will probably know far more than me, but we didn't learn anything like that. Wish we had! We learned (as I remember, I was in kindy, first and second grade ish) Greensleeves, Barbara Allan, and Sweet W...

Barbara Allen

Hi, Have been listening to you sing "Barbara Allen" lately from The Second Three Years. I first learned it as a child growing up in the US in the 70s, along with other English, Irish and Australian traditional tunes, as well as the standard American ones. (As an aside, I was really puzzled that God ...

Re: The I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY Thread

i have to say that i am feeling much, much better about my upcoming day. i'm so glad that i stopped by to piss and moan about it. :) till the next gig... To the east! :) I don't mind getting old (if my back would start co-operating with the agenda, and my ears, too) but I resent running out of time...
