Re: Glad you're not dead

Given the date I didn't think that was your image. But it did make for a facile "I saw Frank's coccix" joke or two.

Glad you're not dead

But I can only imagine the pain you must be in to cancel any shows at all. Admire your incredible will to power through it all so far.

Also terribly sorry it was Tennessee that did it to you. Take care of yourself.

Re: BASEDGOD

Sounds like a real charmer...but the thing that is confusing me, Basedgod....is that Homebased or could it be, gets on my Wickes? I understand that ft sold his soul to the devil, but the devil has gone to Watchdog because he wants a refund. Oh yes the old ones are .... the old ones! More tea and a ...

Not having a mansion is of course forgivable. BUT DOES HE HAVE WONTON SOUP? That question is vital to the question of his divinity.

Re: Time Machine

I love this song because I love Ted Leo. And I actually had to check it wasn't a TL cover. It sounds so TL inspired to me. With a bit of 90's American Teen Idols thrown in on some vocals. Frank's music is usually so decidedly and decisively his own (well, not counting Springsteen of course) that it ...

Re: Books?

The Road was a great book, but the single most relentlessly depressing thing I have ever read. Perfect description of the book. I very seldom cry and feel utterly forlorn throughout, when reading a book, but this one, was it. Gee, you guys really know how to know how to accentuate the positive. I c...

Re: Books?

the story is listed as the inspiration for Moby Dick which I maybe should get around to reading at some point. Talk about impenetrable! Entire chapters dedicated to things like rope used on whaling vessels. Worst book I was ever forced to read. On second thought, it may be tied with "Stranger in a ...

Re: Books?

After this thread I'm now 20% into Fugitive Pieces and adore it so far. Interesting to come across the words that seem to have inspired "One Foot Before the Other."

For light reading I enjoy Gaimon. "Good Omens" is a favorite.

Re: be thankful you don't have brothers frank

However they have no problem paying hundreds of dollars each week to sit in the blazing sun to watch University of Florida Gators football games. And post the play by play of games watched on TV! I may be an overzealous Frank Turner fan but at least I don't post things like "OMG did you see him bre...

He was aiming for rush hour but the time difference and jet lag were in your favor.

He put the shark on the subway:

And, just to fuck with my head, he put the cigarette in it's MOUTH instead of its GILLS! (Pissed the shark off too, I'd imagine)

Re: Frank the movie soundtrack man?

Saw "The Way, Way Back" tonight. Really enjoyable. (No love found in the soundtrack though). I wish I were cool enough to take an awkward teen under my wing and make them feel good about themselves. I'm just the awkward thirty something haha.

Ah, yes, that IS a great cover! Thanks for the reminder.

I will check out the Christy Moore cover if I can find it. Never got much into Baez. Sacrilege, I know.
