"As long as I've got me a place to sleep, some clothes on my back and some food to eat then I can't ask for anything more". I am travelling around Armenia at the moment and I am in a small town called Goris. Away from the capital Yerevan it is clear that Armenia is a poor country and people don't ha...

Just back from seeing the one and only Billy Bragg at the sold out Button Factory in Temple Bar. Brilliant!! He still plays 'The milkman of human kindness', which he played the very first time I ever saw him. Plenty of songs I didn't know as well though. I bought his 'Fight Songs' CD. Nice chat in b...

Saw Eliza Carthy in Whelans. It was fabulous. I had only ever seen her collaborate with her musical family and various tiresome collectives, but to see her do her own gig, with a great band, was brilliant. She manned the CD stall afterwards, which was nice, and I have never seen anyone rip off cello...

I liked them and may go if I don't have to go to far out of my way for it. There was an interesting thread on the Backstreets message board (Bruce Springsteen site) recently following the break-up of R.E.M. Someone challenged people to list bands that have actually remained 'broken up'. Bands with d...

On the subject of songwriting - I listened to 'Balthazar, impressario' on my i-Pod going into work this morning. I hit repeat twice. Perfect on a Monday morning: sad, beautiful, melancholic; makes you think about life and wondering if you are heading in the right direction. Some achievement writing ...

Frank for Roskilde

Roskilde Festival have a survey on their website where you can submit names of bands you'd like to see appear at the festival. See www.roskilde-festival.dk . Roskilde is a great festival. I don't go every year, but really enjoy it whenever I do go. Next year I will go for sure, what with there being...

Wonderful news. Congratulations Frank! Will be there. I like the idea of an all-dayer and great that you'll keep the ticket price reasonable. Will you get them to take the seats out on the ground floor? I am just a tad disappointed that tickets go onsale to O2 customers first. I guess it is a big pl...

I would have thought "I still believe" would have felt like an instant classic.

It is, IMHO.
