Eavesdropping

Hi Frank, Your eavesdropping tweets were amusing. It made me think of something I read about Ray Davies once. Chrissie Hynde said in an interview that when she and Ray were married and they would go out to a restaurant, Ray's entire attention would be on the people on the next table. He would get ab...

Re: Frank's Reddit AMA

Don't know how he managed to answer so many questions in a couple of hours.
Reading the thing takes me longer!

Re: Springsteen

You hit the nail on the head, Skuzafan. When you're at a gig you just don't want it to end. In that way I think Frank and Bruce are quite comparable. Once the gig is over you find yourself thinking, "Can I go again tomorrow?" !

Re: Springsteen

The album is officially out (over here anyway) and it's fantastic. I'm a huge fan and I could even find things to love about 'Working on a dream' but I reckon this is his best since 'Born in the U.S.A.'
Am even more looking forward to the concerts now than I was already...

Re: Songs you'd like to see played at Wembley.

Old: St Christopher is coming home New: Cowboy chords + Four simple words (surely we can have two?) Cover: Somebody to love New cover: Free electric band - Albert Hammond. Just putting this out here again to counteract the 'American Pie' suggestion. 'Free electric band' is like an early 70's America...

Re: Gigs In the USA: 2012 Edition

I was at St Louis tonight. A wonderful small venue which was completely packed. And isn't it great to be at a gig where the highlights are the new songs? Normally that is when everybody heads to the bar, but the two new songs tonight went down a storm. Bring on the next album! A lovely version of 'T...

Re: Queen + Adam Lambert

I don't know this Lambert guy, but I don't like the idea of it. Like the Faces with Mick Hucknall. Did that actually go ahead...? That said, not all replacements are bad. I was always a huge Big Country fan (has anyone else noticed the probably accidental similarity between their song "The Seer" and...

Re: Wembley super update

Okay - to clarify.... It is a pity if one stage means fewer acts in total. However, I really want to see Frank and Billy Bragg. I was imagining Billy Bragg headlining ´stage two´, hence the thought that I would have had to hurry after Billy finished to get to the main stage for Frank. Now I can just...

Wembley super update

Hi Frank.
Thanks for the blog and all the news. I actually consider this good news. Am a fan of both yourself and Billy Bragg, and I was wondering if I had to run back and forth, or loose out on a good spot for your gig if I wanted to be at the ´other stage´ before.
Great news about the DVD too!

Re: Bob Dylan live

I totally admire the man for everything he has done - particularly his older albums, but also some of the newer ones; his excellent book; his radio show; his paintings. But.... live he has disappointed me several times. I think I have seen him seven or eight times in total (all after 1990) and the o...

Re: Traditional folk album

Good. That is not a 'no' then!
You could ask Jon. The thing is that if you were to record a bunch of folk songs it would bring them to a whole new audience. Jon's fans are most likely already committed folkies.
Keep those notes!

Traditional folk album

Hi Frank, I was listening to some songs of Jon Boden's massive "A folk song a day" project this morning, which I love by the way. It made me wonder if you are still thinking of recording an album of traditional folk songs. You mentioned this in interviews a good while back. I almost hate to ask, bec...
