Re: Van the Man
It's that old question - is it necessary to like the musician in order to love the music.
I don't think so. It helps, but it is not a prerequisite.

Re: Springsteen
First time I have ever come across a podcast featuring Bruce. I know nothing about Marc Mahon or his podcast, but this is a fascinating chat. This one is all about psychological stuff, hardly any music talk.

Re: Obligations of Artists
Agree with all of the above. There is no obligation. That said, it does mean a lot to people, so if an artist is comfortable doing it, which Frank seems to be more than any artist I can think if, then it is worth doing. There shouldn't be an expectation though that this is part of the deal when you ...

Re: Van the Man
Thanks. True about the funky-ness, or soul rather. I got into his music a long time ago and hence still like him a lot.
Not sure if I would be open to it if I discovered him now, which is a regrettable state of affairs really.

Van the Man
Hi Frank. I read the Intertainment Magazine interview today, in which you mention the Band on 'The last waltz', including Van Morrison. Was wondering if you are a fan of Van the Man?
Springsteen is quite a fan. You can hear that particularly on 'The wild. the innocent and the E Street shuffle'.

Re: Did anyone use Gigs and Tours for their tickets?
Valid point. I appreciate them trying to combat touting, but this wait for tickets is a pain in the neck. I travel over from Ireland and am making this into a holiday with several other gigs besides Frank. The other shows are E-tickets, so no worries. With Seetickets (who are indeed the same company...

Re: Get Better film
Dublin cinema tickets already on sale. Cineworld in Dundrum.
Check the cinema near you that is likely to show such things and look what they have on 13 December.

Re: Dublin 16/11 meet up!
*waves manically* I just landed at my hostel in Dublin and am pretty much settled. Desperately want to do something interesting this evening, preferably involving a bar and some music (but no tourist traps!). Up to the task? Welcome! Look up and check out the moon! In Neary's Pub off Grafton Street...

See you there. I won't come super early, as I don't want to drink too much before the show, but will come by in any case.

Re: Dublin 16/11 meet up!
The foggy dew would be my first choice, nice size, good beer selection and reasonably priced for the area. P macs is o.k but it tries too hard to be everything. I haven't actually been to P Macs, but I heard it is owned by the same folks as the Blackbird in Rathmines, which I like. Foggy Dew for to...

Re: Dublin 16/11 meet up!
The Long Hall and the Palace Bar would be my favourites in the vicinity of the venue. They are not huge though, so wouldn't be suitable for reserving a space. Don't think you can even. Wherever you go, make sure to also check out the bars inside the Olympia as they are very pretty. The Foggy Dew is ...
