Re: A BRAND New cd each week this year - suggestions?

This week I bought 'Melody Road' by Neil Diamond & in a word it's.................'patchy'.......for me at least. I've written this review out twice & lost it each time so here's a shorter version. It's an attempt to cover all bases & look back over the career of a musical troubadour by following hi...

Re: A BRAND New cd each week this year - suggestions?

Surely the point is if all big artists start giving it away (or their record co, outside parties like 'Apple'), it'll make it a lot harder for new bands to get into the marketplace, let alone compete with freebies, lol You say this and then only go and buy albums which are available in a record sho...

Thanks, will consider it. Tough competition from Neil Dimond who has been on fine form on recent albums.....

Re: A BRAND New cd each week this year - suggestions?

This week I bought 'Rose Ave', by 'You & Me' and in a word it's...................fragile. My review is early again this week, because I'm preparing for the Great West Run this Sunday (my first ever half marathon). I can be sponsored here incidentally: http://email.virginmoneygiving.com/re?l=BD0Ie36...

Re: A BRAND New cd each week this year - suggestions?

There should be additional stuff on the U2 physical release that wasn't on the free digital album. I love the album by the way. Have it on constant repeat. Stay clear from anything to do with X-Factor! I'll get slaughtered for this but I can't agree. The vast majority of x-factor is hogwash I agree...

Agreed, but normally voulume of choice picks up from October. I think this week is very poor with lots of re-releases, anniversary releases!

Re: A BRAND New cd each week this year - suggestions?

No idea what I'm gonna get tomorrow.

U2 - already given away!
Ella Henderson - x-Factor but seems above average x-factor at least!
Jessie J ?

Seems very little choice for so late in the year!

Re: A BRAND New cd each week this year - suggestions?

This week I bought 'The Weird And Wonderful Marmozets' by ' Marmozets' and after initially hating it, I've come to accept it has some merits after all, but most people I know won't like it! Not gonna give a track by track review because I simply don't have that much different to say about the tracks...

Re: Leonard Cohen?

Hey Bossman, This is one of my favorite Leonard Cohen songs, and Frank covers it beautifully. The video is from a show in 2006, and the song starts at 07:30. http://youtu.be/vDGs3H-hIUI Darlene That libk took me to a full show. Go on, give us a clue, how far in to it and what song? LC's new album i...

Leonard Cohen?

Hi Frank Great to meet you again & finally get that pic after the great Exeter Lemon Grove gig. My question is have you listened to much Leonard Cohen & what do you think? He's an acquired taste & it's taken me years to really acquire it, but his release this week 'Popular Problems' is 36 minutes of...

Re: A BRAND New cd each week this year - suggestions?

This week I bought 'Popular Problems' by Leonard Cohen and in a word it's...................masterful! At 80 years of age, Cohen brings all his experience, let's his band and backing singers have their space in the sound & fills all the gaps with his half spoken/half sung baritone. It's at least on ...

Has he ever done an Elvis tune?

How about 'Good Rockin' Tonight', then he could really claim:

'Right here, right now, Elvis brings his children home'

Re: Third Three Years?

Frank was a teaser last night after the Exeter gig, when he told me (a Springsteen fan) that there's a second official Bruce cover gonna be on the 3rd Three Years, and then wouln't reveal which one, lol Speculation on the facebook page 'Frank Turner Army' is that it might be 'Born To Run' from the S...
