Re: New cd reviews...........

Should've posted this one a few weeks ago too: 'Cradle To The Grave' by Squeeze is pretty good. Enjoying the single 'Lazy Days', the title track and 'Open' best I think, but nothing I can say I really dislike on it. Their 1st new album for many years, although only Difford and Tilbrook of the origin...

Re: New cd reviews...........

Listening to the new Rod Stewart, 'Another Country'. Not quite as good as 'Time', but strong throughout again. A Tragedy in my mind that he spent SO long on the Great American Songbook and previously rock covers albums, when he had the ability to write good strong songs the whole time, as he's now s...

Yes, sorry. Memory lapse. Also not Chuck Berry (You Never Can Tell) or Shania Twain too

Re: New cd reviews...........

It upsets me that you clarified that My Hero was not the Foo Fighters song by offering no such clarity on C'est La Vie. Imagine my disappointment when I searched for the track only to discover it wasn't a cover of the glorious B*Witched song Sorry Pete. I need a 'like' button for your reply. Afraid...

Re: New cd reviews...........

And another pretty nice one is 'Keep The Village Alive' by The Stereophonics. They've developed into a pretty solid outfit in my opinion. The singles 'C'Est La Vie' and 'I Wanna Get Lost With You' led me to this one and there are other solid tracks like 'White Lies', 'Song For The Summer' and 'My He...

Re: New cd reviews...........

This moving new releases to Friday is stupid. Anyway - New Jason Isbell is out this week. Based on a few listens I think it might be better than Southeastern. Very good, but not better than Southeaston, for me at least. Anyone who likes a bit of country should check out 'Traveller' by Chris Staplet...

Re: New cd reviews...........

I got Mumford and Sons' 'Wilder Mind' and I have to say it's pretty good, sounds a bit like 'The War On Drugs' from last year to me. I applaud them too for changing their sound somewhat rather than just repeating their first 2 albums. That said nothing in particular is blowing me away on it, althoug...

Re: New cd reviews...........

I have really mixed views when it comes to Blur, often liking the 'pop' tunes but equally often disliking the 'arty' stuff & strange rythyms they have employed. I have to say though that I'm amazed that they've managed to come up with something as consistently good as 'The Magic Whip' from a 5 day s...

Re: New cd reviews...........

The Chief is back! Noel Gallagher has returned with his High Flying Birds in the shape of their second album 'Chasing Yesterday' and it's excellent. Liam may have had the swagger but Noel had the tunes and he still does. This builds on his first solo work & yes as usual he wears his influences on hi...

Re: New cd reviews...........

Ok then, the 1st cd I got this year was 'American Beauty/American Psycho by Fall Out Boy. I got it because I was surprised how much I enjoyed their last offering 'Save Rock And Roll' a couple of years back. I think it's been hailed as a bit of a departure from their usual style for them. Not for the...

New cd reviews...........

Hi guys I'm not repeating my 'a new cd a week thread' this year, but I may well try and buy at least one a month, so will post reviews here of any I purchase. I would like to invite other members to share their views on any new cd's they buy or hear here too though. Post away if you wish to partake ...
