Re: Would like a FT song as a first wedding dance

You can get a slightly more detailed answer to this by reading Frank's book _The Road Beneath My Feet_. I'm not telling what page, because the whole thing is damn good and you should all read it. That said, if you've created your own positive meaning from it, then who's to say you shouldn't use it f...

Re: The Next Storm - radio play

Haven't heard anything yet here in Los Angeles. Having listened to our most established "alternative" rock (stupid label) station (KROQ) for the last twenty years, and having witnessed what a frustrating song and dance marketing singles to their finicky program directors can be [my desk happened to ...

Re: Fave song title

Two of mine have already been mentioned--"I Really Don't Care What You Did on Your Gap Year" and "When I Was a Boy I Thought I Was a Fish" never fail to make me smile. Smith Street Band are great at this--"The Arrogance of the Drunk Pedestrian", "Wipe That Shit-Eating Grin Off Your Punchable Face", ...

Re: Frank's Book

Haven't posted here in ages, but my summer holidays are almost over, so I'd better get my fix while I can--same with finishing the book, which I finally started recently! I agree with everything said above--I'm loving it! Favorite bits so far: the images of the skinny, half-clothed Russian kid telli...

Re: Your first cry to a FT song

First was probably "Jet Lag"... I also had a "16 hour" time difference between myself and the guy I was hung up on at the time. Hardest cry was to "The Way I Tend to Be" while flying back across the country from visiting the guy who swept me off my feet last year and knowing I wouldn't see him again...

Re: London

"Ha" to the actually-a-Bruin part (even better--I am, too, if you couldn't tell) and to Frank writing some songs about England. (Side note: You may be the only SoCal native I know who wants to adopt "hella" into SoCal lingo.) Anyway, rad that you got to see Skinny Lister. Good luck on your exams! Wh...

Re: PSFNP

Does it say something negative about my maturity level that the first thing to come to mind for me after reading these was "Please Send Frank Nude Pics" ?

Re: London

I'll definitely get some tourist-y stuff in, because hey, I'm a tourist. And that pizza looks delicious so I might have to get some of that in as well, haha. And I'm in Glasgow until June, but unfortunately only going to be in London for a couple days (though I could possibly spend another couple d...

Re: London

Absolutely one of my favorite places in the world. I'm surprised no one has quote Samuel Johnson yet: "...when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." I was going to chime in with two more (Derelict London tours with Paul Talling, and a visit ...

Re: Tracklisting

Intetesting reply on Balthazar. I see Balthazar, Eva Mae, Wanderlust and Sailor's Boots as standard EKMB tracks in my own mind. Grateful they were released as bonus tracks, but have never come across such beautiful songs that are just non-standard bonus tracks. The album is pretty close to perfecti...

Smith Street Band & Andrew Jackson Jihad

This doesn't involve a question, so I'm posting it here instead of giving Frank another email to deal with on top of all his others. Had the pleasure this weekend of seeing Jeff Rosenstock, Smith Street Band, and Andrew Jackson Jihad put on two brilliant shows in a row (San Diego and LA). Just wante...

Re: Salty Dog Cruise

Thanks for the info! I never had any doubt that it would be worth it, but it was just too hard to swing this year with my work schedule and there was also a personal issue that interfered. Anyway, stoked to be part of the fun next year, especially since I now know a few more people who will be there...

Re: Salty Dog Cruise

The stars have aligned and I am planning to do this cruise next year...yippee! Any advice on picking a stateroom? I'll probably go with the cheapest option (interior stateroom), but just wanted to check with people who went this year before I book.

Re: I knew Prufrock before he got referenced

Hey, smige-- I studied English as well and I'm impressed. Had I but known about Frank's music during my undergraduate years [though he was still with Million Dead at the time], I might have occupied myself with doing the same. As it was, the best I did was dedicating two different essays to Bad Reli...
