Re: Non-Frank Gigs

Saw Henry Rollins tonight, he was fantastic! His show lasts nearly 3 hours, so is definitely worth every penny paid! I also managed some how to snag an interview with him next week(goes to show how great his DIY ethic is to say yes to an unknown student journo like me!) I now have the daunting pros...

Re: Top 5 of 2011

I wasn't really impressed with El Camino. Maybe I need to give it another chance, but I'm getting to the stage now where if an album doesn't really really grab me on first listen then I'm not interested.

Re: Non-Frank Gigs

Paul McCartney on Monday. The guy's 70 odd and played for three hours straight. He's not quite that old yet, surely? Around 67 I thought. The energy of the over 60's always amazes me - in the last few years I've seen Alice Cooper, The Who, Heaven and Hell, Motorhead, Seasick Steve, Neil Young, Bad ...

Re: Introductory Song

I've made a couple of mix CD's for people recently who wanted to be introduced to some new music, and I put I Still Believe on them.

Re: The TV Thread

I'm fully aware that I'm several years late with this, but I just started watching Big Bang Theory. Less than 15 minutes into the 1st episode the wife drew comparisons between me and Sheldon. I was unsure how to feel about this.
We're also watching Season 4 of Sons of Anarchy.

I want Frank to do the Revival Tour again - somehow I missed it last time he did it.

Re: Top 5 of 2011

I think I'm going to follow Tiffiny's example - EKMB is undoubtedly my favourite album of 2011, but I'll do the next 5 as well!

Chuck Ragan - Covering Ground
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Sarah Jarosz - Follow Me Down
J Mascis - Several Shades Of Why
Lancashire Hotpots - Achtung Gravy

A signature guitar? That's, like, Steve Vai territory!

EDIT: In a good way!

I shall report on how the lesson went next week. It also includes reference to several album covers (GNR, Sabbath, Nirvana), religious tattoos, and John Lennon.

Re: views on the strike

Firstly, this 'my job's more noble than yours' bullshit. I repeat once again - that is YOUR choice. I didn't tell you to do that. You went into the career knowing the salary, the job that it entails. This. There is a fine line between using yourself as an example and trying to be a martyr. I've tri...

Re: views on the strike

I'd rather take a pay freeze for a year or two, or a small increase in tax/national insurance than live with the knowledge that I'm going to need to work till I'm sixty fucking eight. It seems to me that the whole world is now an economics expert, except me. Obviously I didn't get that memo. I bow t...

Re: views on the strike

And this is why I didn't really want to get involved. Clearly you all just need to remember in future that one of those evil cunt money grabbing teachers is in your midst, who obviously entered the profession with the sole intention of gaining a fat fucking pension and 13 weeks off a year - nothing ...
