Re: Does anyone ever worry about music related tattoos??

I have the "who'd have thought..." Line from I Still Believe on my back, as well as the Berthold Auerbach quote "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life" on a stave with a bass clef. I have these two quotes because they summarise perfectly how I feel, and have felt for 20 years, ab...

Re: best band you've seen this year??

Quite hard to pick the best gig of 2012 for two reasons; 1) didn't go to a huge number of gigs in 2012. 2) none of them were absolutely outstanding. Only 14 music gigs and one festival in a whole year?? That's pathetic. Anyway, contenders for the best are Frank in Darlington, Steve Vai in Newcastle,...

Re: Gene Simmons and rock biogs

I love rock biogs. 'Dear Boy: the Life Of Keith Moon' is really good. One of the best I've ever read is a biog of Screaming Lord Sutch - only partly a rock biog but excellent nonetheless.

Re: The Revival Tour - UK and Europe 2012

Crowd at the Newcastle show was pathetically small. I thought last years' show was better - wasn't really a fan of Jay Malinowski or Cory Branan. I enjoyed Rocky Votolato though - bought two of his albums at the gig - and Emily Barker, and o course Chuck.

Re: Favourite and worst album of 2012

Sorry to be pedantic but Covering Ground was released in 2011...if it had been 2012 it would have been the only one on my list cos it pisses on everything released this year in my opinion!

And I agree that Band Of Skulls' first album is better.

Re: Your all time Top 10 Frank Turner songs???

Surprised to hear that 'this town...' only has 1 point - I considered including it in my top 10 at first as I can relate to its sentiment of growing up in small town mentality.

Re: Your all time Top 10 Frank Turner songs???

Seen some interesting choices in people's lists so far. Mine are gonna be pretty obvious I fear, but I don't care. It's also gonna be really REALLY difficult to put 10 in order but I'll give it a go... 1) I Still Believe; sums up my feelings about music - easily the most important non-human factor i...

I tried to sum it up in my reply to the guardian tweet that linked to the article. It said "fortunately, his music is so good that no one really gives a shit."

Saw Patti Smith the other night, was excellent. Megson next Saturday, slash next month, Carter USM, FT and Revival tour in November, and Steve Vai and war of the worlds in December. Loads more coming up that I want to go to but haven't got tickets for yet - Kate Rusby, Lancashire hotpots, Peter Hook...

Oh yes. I destroyed two packets of those last weekend - on special offer in our local shop, £1 a packet. That's what happens when the wife leaves me home alone.
