Re: A few quick questions

I like having a separate area here. It's fairly low traffic and the FAQ means that people only post if they want to know something that isn't generally out there. In return Frank is very generous with his time.

I occasionally look at the FB group but it is hard work filtering out all the noise.

Re: Be More Kind

I noticed another reference today.

I was reading Dylan's book "Chronicles: Volume One"

Someone asked him if he prayed for the world. He replied that he prayed to be more kind.

Re: Be More Kind

Thank you for that.

I didn't know about this side of Clive until I heard a radio program about his poetry and songs.

Be More Kind

I was wondering if the title was inspired by Aldous Huxley. He was my favourite author as a teenager; I went though that teenage thing of reading every Huxley book that I could find in second hand shops. I was pleasantly surprised one day to find he had summarised his work with the following words. ...

Re: London History

I'd love to hear some more London songs. There are a lot of references but I think Broken Piano is the song that captures the place for me.

Re: The Elvis T-Shirt

My partner went to his"Birthplace" in Tupelo, Mississippi. It was the size of it that shocked him. Tiny little 2 room building.

Not so much to see but worth visiting just to get a feel of where he came from.

Re: nOTES TO STRANGERS. 24/7

The guy originally started it as a way of to try to help strangers that might be having a hard time. I get far more wound up that is reasonable when I am in a quiet carriage and people are making a noise with their phones. Tutting doesn’t always work. Sometimes words have to be said. I hadn't though...

Songbook Versions

Hi Frank, I’m really enjoying the Songbook versions. I prefer many of them to the originals; I think they seem more intimate. There is a vulnerability that adds another layer to the song. I’d be interested to know if all of these “new” melody lines were actually new. I wondered if you originally wro...

nOTES TO STRANGERS. 24/7

There is a nice project, mainly in London at the moment called "notes to strangers". (you can find out more about the project here www.andy-leek.com/notes-to-strangers) . I was inspired to write a song and make a video as my own note to strangers. It seems to fit with the idea of positive songs for ...

Thank Pete. I wonder if art needs the grit in the oyster, shame the grit has to be Trump and Brexit.

You have said in the past that you would avoid political songs. What changed your mind?

Dig Beneath the Dust

James Inflames has made a great video for my latest song. I'm really pleased with the way it captures the atmosphere.

Re: Van the Man

Totally agree Watergirl. There are tricky levels to this one though. I think if someone is a homophobe or a racist and shares those views in public then I would find it hard to listen to their music without being aware of it. If they are just a bit unpleasant in private then it's a different matter.
