Re: nOTES TO STRANGERS. 24/7

The guy originally started it as a way of to try to help strangers that might be having a hard time. I get far more wound up that is reasonable when I am in a quiet carriage and people are making a noise with their phones. Tutting doesn’t always work. Sometimes words have to be said. I hadn't though...

Songbook Versions

Hi Frank, I’m really enjoying the Songbook versions. I prefer many of them to the originals; I think they seem more intimate. There is a vulnerability that adds another layer to the song. I’d be interested to know if all of these “new” melody lines were actually new. I wondered if you originally wro...

nOTES TO STRANGERS. 24/7

There is a nice project, mainly in London at the moment called "notes to strangers". (you can find out more about the project here www.andy-leek.com/notes-to-strangers) . I was inspired to write a song and make a video as my own note to strangers. It seems to fit with the idea of positive songs for ...

Re: Political songs

Thank Pete. I wonder if art needs the grit in the oyster, shame the grit has to be Trump and Brexit.

Political songs

You have said in the past that you would avoid political songs. What changed your mind?

Dig Beneath the Dust

James Inflames has made a great video for my latest song. I'm really pleased with the way it captures the atmosphere.

Re: Van the Man

Totally agree Watergirl. There are tricky levels to this one though. I think if someone is a homophobe or a racist and shares those views in public then I would find it hard to listen to their music without being aware of it. If they are just a bit unpleasant in private then it's a different matter.

I wonder if "The Sand in the Gears " will lose any fans, and if it does if Frank will care.

Re: You Gov profiles

Thanks Pete. Don't know how I missed that.

There are two changes I can see.

Cat > Fish

Sainsbury's > Waitrose.

Change in fans or just their survey group?

I take the whole thing with a large box of salt, bought from Waitrose of course.

You Gov profiles

Have you ever looked up yourself on You Gov profiles? I saw it on a Dave Goreman program and it’s a fascinating way to waste some time. https://yougov.co.uk/profileslite#/Frank_Turner/demographics It seems that your typical fan is pretty left wing, Aged 25-39 and comes from Wales. Their most likely ...

Re: Aztec Camera

One of the best albums in the last 15 years is "Surf" by Roddy Frame, almost perfect songs and some amazing guitar playing. Tom Robinson liked it so much at the time that he said if anyone bought it and didn't like it then he would send them the cost of the album, don't think he had to put his hand ...

Leonard Cohen

Hi,

I really enjoyed your piece on Leonard Cohen and going deeper into his work.

I know the greatest hits, do you have a suggestion for the best album to start if I want to dig deeper?

Looking forward to the show in Salisbury on Friday.
