Re: 1933 and Sensible Sundays

I read the book about 15 years ago and prediction from that point was much harder than it appears in hindsight. I think a lot of history is shoehorned to fit patterns after the event. Trump helps make the choices clear because he doesn’t hide his motivations. I'm cautiously optimistic that the movem...

Get yourself to an open mic.

My request for the day. Find an Open Mic near you and go and have some fun. They are everywhere now and almost everyone I have visited has had amazing people performing for nothing. In five years time you will be paying 50 quid to see some of these people at the O2. Just to give you a flavour, this ...

1933 and Sensible Sundays

Hi, Hope you are feeling better. Couple of quick questions. 1. Any idea what time you will finish on Senible Sunday (13 May). I'm comming up to London via Brighton Fringe Festival and need to decide if I can get back to Southampton that evening or find somewhere to stay the night. 2. On the subject ...

Re: A few quick questions

BTW the Frank FAQ on the "Ask Me" forum seems to have disapeared.

The one where Frank explains that he can't play at weddings, birthdays and bar mitzvahs because he is rather busy at the moment.

Re: A few quick questions

I like having a separate area here. It's fairly low traffic and the FAQ means that people only post if they want to know something that isn't generally out there. In return Frank is very generous with his time.

I occasionally look at the FB group but it is hard work filtering out all the noise.

Re: Be More Kind

I noticed another reference today.

I was reading Dylan's book "Chronicles: Volume One"

Someone asked him if he prayed for the world. He replied that he prayed to be more kind.

It’s like when you get a green car; suddenly you see green cars everywhere.

Re: Be More Kind

Thank you for that.

I didn't know about this side of Clive until I heard a radio program about his poetry and songs.

Be More Kind

I was wondering if the title was inspired by Aldous Huxley. He was my favourite author as a teenager; I went though that teenage thing of reading every Huxley book that I could find in second hand shops. I was pleasantly surprised one day to find he had summarised his work with the following words. ...

Re: London History

I'd love to hear some more London songs. There are a lot of references but I think Broken Piano is the song that captures the place for me.

Re: The Elvis T-Shirt

My partner went to his"Birthplace" in Tupelo, Mississippi. It was the size of it that shocked him. Tiny little 2 room building.

Not so much to see but worth visiting just to get a feel of where he came from.

Re: nOTES TO STRANGERS. 24/7

The guy originally started it as a way of to try to help strangers that might be having a hard time. I get far more wound up that is reasonable when I am in a quiet carriage and people are making a noise with their phones. Tutting doesn’t always work. Sometimes words have to be said. I hadn't though...

Songbook Versions

Hi Frank, I’m really enjoying the Songbook versions. I prefer many of them to the originals; I think they seem more intimate. There is a vulnerability that adds another layer to the song. I’d be interested to know if all of these “new” melody lines were actually new. I wondered if you originally wro...

nOTES TO STRANGERS. 24/7

There is a nice project, mainly in London at the moment called "notes to strangers". (you can find out more about the project here www.andy-leek.com/notes-to-strangers) . I was inspired to write a song and make a video as my own note to strangers. It seems to fit with the idea of positive songs for ...
