Re: I would like frank to cover..

"I Got a Name" - Jim Croce. Theme similar to The Road as well as other lyrical themes present in FT's songs

"Regress No Way" - 7 Seconds. The message is a great one, way before its time, and I think it could be slowed down to great effect. Melodic hardcore

Re: UK pre sale

The US presale/code went well. We got the code in the confirmation email of the pre-order, and cut and paste that into the ticket link promo code... I purchased 3 tickets for Phoenix, AZ, the Press Room show, in this fashion. If the UK system is built similarly, I would say you should be optimistic ...

Re: Non-Frank Gigs

Off tonight to see Public Enemy and the Cult.

Not sure how these two go together except in my head. Someone planning a tour is apparently in my head. I fully expect an amazing show from PE. Not as confident about the Cult...

We shall see...

Re: Arizona tour in 2014 - repeat?

if you play Flagstaff, I will make sure to come up the mountain from Phoenix for it. Flagstaff is a cool (sometimes cold...it just snowed this weekend) little hangout...a solid mix of college town and reservation border town with some country mixed in.

So project 2 tickets at least :)

Arizona tour in 2014 - repeat?

Us desert dwellers appreciated the 3 show tour of Arizona sandwiched between Coachella appearances (thought, I suppose you may have learned a bit about how Arizona is more than snakes and cactus and crazy politicians with your at-altitude show in Flagstaff, my hometown). Was that truly a makeup for ...

Re: Non-Frank Gigs

Off! and Bad Religion on Friday. What a great show. Off! is fierce. BR takes hardcore to another level sonically. This Friday, not a gig...but a screening of the DC Hardcore documentary "Salad Days" at Filmbar in downtown Phoenix. I was considering doing a trip to PRB to catch club shows by Frank an...

Re: Thoughts about the 2015 concerts setlist

From TDH, I have to have Plainsailing Weather. It is just too perfect a song. Recovery will always be around. Losing Days and The Way I Tend To Be are, I think, headed for regular rotation. Of the others, I'd most want to hold onto Fisher King Blues, though there are times, if I am with friends, whe...

Re: Gene Simmons and rock biogs

Steven Blush's "American Hardcore" is a recent read that I would recommend to, well, American hardcore punk fans. Henry Rollins' "Get In the Van - On the Road with Black Flag" is another recent purchase/read that I would give the thumbs up. I just found some low budget/self published book on the won...

Re: Best Song on Tape Deck Heart

I am a sucker for the big anthem done well, so "Fisher King Blues" gets me every time.

"Plainsailing Weather" is simply the most well done song on the album, whatever that means (I know what I mean). The changes in tempo are amazing

Re: Hardcore punk recommendations

7 Seconds - all the pop punk bands owe Kevin/Troy/Steve/Bobbyandothers a debt of gratitude for showing how its done. But 7 Seconds does it with more heart and sXe, if that is your cup of tea. The Descendents also fit this description, minus the sXe deal. MDC - If you like politics in your music, you...

Re: Your least favorite FT song

Not a big fan of his cover of Fix Me, but that is probably because I like the original too much to hear it any other way.

It's cheating a bit, but the song was released.

Re: Sorry if this may be a bit broad

Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. Your request is a perfect description of their shows. Their music is a bit Americana with straight ahead rock n roll. Formed by the singer/songwriter of the late Refreshments. Their new work is waning as Clyne gets older and more complacent, but their live shows are ...

Re: Opener / Setlist

There is always someone new at each show, and there are just some songs that need to be played. I have managed to get my 13 year old daughter into Frank against all reasonable logic...she listens to a lot of current pop stuff (though her love of musicals is, though not shared by me, an interesting d...

Re: When Did We Get So Fucking Old?

All kinds are welcome from my perspective. The kids who jump up and down, the band travelers, the mid crowd arm lifters, the back of the crowd watchers. Some people are more gregarious than others. It's that way in life and in the crowd in a musical venue. Music doesn't have to be a spectator sport,...
