Re: Mandolin tuning

Are you finding it difficult to tune the two strings to the same pitch? Or is it more of a case it won't stay in tune?

Re: 12/02/14 Tubes

I am told the DLR is an option... Hope so as I won't be able to go if I can't get back. There will be a way I'm sure!! Anyone else travelling East? Apologies for being the bringer of bad tidings but have just found out that the DLR have announced they are also going on strike. I don't know if there...

Re: Albums you love all the way through

Frank Turner: England Keep My Bones and Love Ire and Song The last album before these I loved the whole way through was The Remote Part by Idlewild, although 100 Broken Windows was pretty good as well. Shout out to Idlewild! Saw em Saskatoon in 2003 then they ended up opening up for Pearl Jam that ...

Having the possibility sounds nice.
Also paying £5 or £10 that will go to social projects is fine.

100% in agreement with you! It sounds like a brilliant plan.

Odd about the repeated track indeed, but am looking forward to hearing it all.
Tad disappointed 'Waterloo sunset' isn't on it.
I agree about Waterloo Sunset - Frank's version is great! :D

Re: Ticket problem for 02 in Feb

I have ordered just one ticket and mine hasn't been despatched as yet. Best thing to do is contact the ticket company themselves and find out what's going on if you are worried. Some companies send out an email when it has been despatched.

Re: iTunes Sessions

Anyone else downloaded the iTunes sessions released today? Downloaded it purely for the Live And Let Die cover but seriously loving the different version of Tell Tale Signs. Personally think its better than the version on Tape Deck Heart I agree - I love the piano on Tell Tale Signs - this version ...

Re: Guitar Things

Scales are important, and a certain amount of music theory (which I'm gradually getting in dribs and drabs from more studious friends) is very helpful, because then you get why certain things work, but you can practice scales at home, you don't need lessons for that. Yep - scales seem to unlock eve...

Re: Guitar Things

I think it depends on what sort of a guitarist you want to be. If you want to be a guitarist who can play chords and strum along to songs etc, then the knowledge of scales is not essential. If you want to learn how to solo and develop your guitar playing in that way, then learning scales is essentia...

Re: Am I the only one to go out and buy a mandolin?????

I have a mandolin but haven't yet learnt the Tape Deck Heart songs on it. I play violin so I find mandolin reasonably easy to pick up (same string tuning - although I understand there are other tunings for the instrument.) Great sound, but difficult to tune up!

Re: Polaroid Picture video

This song didn't grab me straight away when I listened to Tape Deck Heart. Now, after listening to the lyrics carefully, I find it is a song that now resonates with me more than I realised it ever would do. It's an incredible song!
