Re: Non-Frank Gigs

Looking forward to tonight's DC 101 Kerfuffle at Merriweather Post Pavilion here in Columbia, Maryland. Great line-up, unfortunately it's on Mother's Day, but my wife has given my daughter and I a pass... SET TIMES The Unlikely Candidates - 1:30pm MISSIO - 2:20pm Highly Suspect - 3:10pm Catfish and ...

Springsteen Biography

Just wondering if you've had a chance to read it yet, Frank? I'm almost done reading it and I see lots of similarities between the two of you. Especially towards your attitudes and philosophies about touring and writing songs. Chapter 39, Downtime, in particular had me thinking about you. Anyway, gr...

Re: Your first cry to a FT song

Was at last Thursday's show in Silver Spring with my wife. When Frank was singing Polaroid Picture, and the line "we won't all be here this time next year" came up, I lost it. We lost my wife's mother last February. A kinder, caring mother-in-law you could not ask for. First time cry at a concert.

Re: Inauguration

Wow. What a night. Probably the best concert I've been to in decades. All 4 acts were outstanding. And Frank and the Souls... perfection. You guys just keep getting better. Highlights were the opening number (which I'm glad I recorded on my iPhone because it's needed today), the crowd surf by the gu...

Re: Inauguration

No, I didn't know that. My daughter attends Towson, but she's home on break. Don't think I'll make it to Craig Finn. My wife and I will be at the Fillmore tomorrow. 4th time we've seen Frank together in the past 5 or 6 years. She said if it weren't for Frank, we'd never go out on a date. Been marrie...

Inauguration

As luck would have it, you'll be in the area for Trump's swearing in. Have they asked you to play? :D

And... see you Thursday in Silver Spring. Looking forward to it!

The Last Kingdom

Hi Frank. The wife and I just finished watching the BBC adaptation of Bernard Cornwell's "The Saxon Stories" and since it's about Wessex, my wife said we should ask Frank if he's seen it and what he thinks of it. Netflix has the second season coming out this year and we're looking forward to it. Had...

Re: When Will More Northeast US/Canada? dates Be Announced?

Frank, I don't know how you do it. You really do have a special kind of love with travel, the road and being up on stage. I live in Maryland and was introduced to your music in 2012. In 4 years, I've seen you 5 times. The January concert in Silver Spring will be number 6. I think I didn't make it to...

Re: Has anyone ever requested a refund for a concert before?

No, that sounds like a nightmare of a concert.
I'd say something like "hey, it's Bryan Adams, did
you really want the sound working anyway",
But you've suffered enough.

Re: Freedom Hill show #1949

Great night! This was my 6th time seeing Frank and the guys and first time when they weren't headlining. I usually see him in Baltimore, but was visiting relatives in Michigan this week. Flogging Molly were great, my first show. And Chuck was amazing. Need to buy more of his music. I mentioned in an...

Re: Meeting Frank

Yeah Kerr, I know. I don't think I've ever stayed to meet someone. I have when accompanying my daughter to one of her concerts. But then I'm just "the Dad". She's coming with me tonight to see Frank in Detroit. First time I've dragged her to a concert I wanted to go to. ;)

Re: Meeting Frank

Going to Saturday's concert in Detroit. Visiting relatives and I'm taking 2 sisters, my daughter and a nephew. This will be my 6th time seeing you Frank and hopefully my first time meeting you. How does that work at one of these outdoor venues? Do you visit the merch tent (if there is one) after you...

Re: Any Sugestions for current songwriters?

I'll recommend the guy Frank just did a short tour with, Jason Isbell. I only started listening to him because of the tour, and I immediately fell in love with both the lyrics and the music. I think "If It Takes A Lifetime" is a perfect tune (my opinion anyway).

XTC Book

I didn't realize this was out until I stumbled upon the Amazon page for it. It's called "Complicated Game - Inside the songs of XTC" by Andy Partridge and Todd Bernhardt. Very fascinating look at the beginnings of the "punk" movement in the late 70s and just basically insight into Andy Partridge and...

Greezy, just noticed your post from June. I'm in Columbia. You planning on seeing Frank at Merriweather with Jason Isbell in June?
