Re: Wilf Turnbull & Derek Philpott

Well, after some time it appears that Mr Philpott did find something to write to Frank about.

Re: Bricks - Venues closing down.

So many good small venues gone over the years. the one's I miss most include the legendary Retford Porterhouse, Leeds Duchess Of York and Finsbury Park Sir George Robey. I put some gigs on at Lincoln Duke Of Wellington in the nineties, and that place is now closed which is a shame. Leicester Princes...

Re: Wilf Turnbull & Derek Philpott

They can be a bit verbose, and it maybe sometimes goes a little over the heads of some of the people they write to. I love the Billy Bragg letter and reply, and the reply from Neil Hannon from The Divine Comedy was just brilliant. I do think the site is a great way to spend a few hours when you shou...

Re: Wilf Turnbull & Derek Philpott

Ah, if they did write would you be up for it do you think? They are currently looking for suggestions of people to try. edit - just realised I've put you on the spot there. I realise not everyone will like the idea of having the mickey taken out of their lyrics, and apparently Sparks fans didn't take...

Wilf Turnbull & Derek Philpott

Have you been written to by the two retired gentlemen of Bournemouth http://www.wilfturnbull.co.uk/ at all? Billy Bragg got a letter and wrote a great reply, and I'd love to see what you could come up with.

Re: Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson Knocks Judas Priest + Punk

I think he has a point - to the extent that, no one from the Damned / Pistols / Clash / Sham69 could replace any musician in Maiden I think you're being unfair there Frank, certainly Topper Headon could give any other drummer a run for their money. I'd also like to know how accomplished the guys in...

Re: Hatfield Show

Poor Sam Russo, I thought it was just me that couldn't hear him properly, thought it was a balcony thing. Actually I could hear him more clearly from the disabled toilet and considered staying there until he had finished! I was really annoyed that during Sam's set all I could hear was people talkin...

Re: UK Arena Tour

This is sort of true (actually this tour we are playing to potentially 60,000 people or so. The November UK tour was 35,000 ish, all in. It's also about the amount of time it takes. There are only so many days in the year a lot more of the world to play in these days, and with my back and the rest ...

Re: UK Arena Tour

I'd like to start this post by saying I'm not slagging Frank off, we all know how hard he works (too hard sometimes) and how genuine he is. However, it seems to me that when an act becomes big enough to play arenas they don't tend to end up playing to more people. For example Frank sold out Wembley ...

Blyth Power Kickstarter project.

I don't know if anyone else on here has heard of Blyth Power (maybe some of the other old gits like me), but I think they may appeal to some of you being a punk/folk crossover band. They are now in their 30th anniversary year and have set up a kickstarter project to fund the recording of their 11th ...
