Re: Knoxville Show

Just some drunk hecklers. Frank was beginning his fun facts about the town and someone yelled something. I was not super close but I think it was something like "Shut up and play some rock and roll." Frank suggested he has a friend who will help him not be "that guy", or that he find such a friend. ...

Re: Knoxville Show

Kiddo had fun. Glad she got to see how you should handle bullies. To say I was impressed would be a huge understatement!

Re: University

It's where I learned how pathetically totalitarian and ignorant some people on the left are. I notice that a lot of left wingers think that right wingers are evil and right wingers think left wingers are misguided (obviously not all of them). Left and Right are just places to stand on the continuum...

Re: Knoxville Show

I wondered if you would be there, darlenet. Why? Because Florida is so close to Knoxville? Haha. If you come, we need to say hello! Bet the child has grown the past year. Might be a good show to bring her to since it's seated. Of course, "seated" is merely a guideline for me! Haha no, because you c...

Re: Knoxville Show

I wondered if you would be there, darlenet. Your tickets are slightly better than ours but we need 3 as we may bring the kid if she is well rested enough (she is staying with grandparents in Knoxville that week, but she tends to come back a hot mess so we will evaluate that day). I think we're sixth...

Re: 4 million+ people listened to Recovery last night

I saw it (on DVR).

One day I heard "The Way I Tend to Be" in the ladies room at The Olive Garden (American chain of Italian food). That was surreal. Normally one hears Sinatra or another crooner.

Reverent venues

Just curious if there are any landmark or historic venues (anywhere) that you haven't played that you'd like to "someday." I live in Nashville and it seems every show at the Ryman sees the artist (and opening bands) mention how honored they are to play on its stage. The Ryman may not appeal to you f...

Actually I would love to hear Frank cover a song like Marty Robbins's "El Paso." Because, accent. And such a serious song. I bet he'd kill it in a glorious way.

Re: If you really built a Time Machine ...

Frank show, probably Indianapolis last fall. Although many have been incredible. Atlanta 2010 and 2012 were both incredible. Other show: Don't remember the year even, maybe 1996 or 98, but it was a bang up triple feature with the American Tesn Idols, Swingin Utters, and NOFX in Memphis at the New Da...

Re: Prufrock recitation

This is really quite stunning. "Love Ire & Song" would be another that would be just as or more powerful in spoken form. I'd also love to hear Frank put some classic poetry to music the way Phil Ochs performed "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes and "The Bells" by Edgar Allen Poe. Also that typed out "...

Darlene!!! You're a lifesaver!

Tell me, please, what Cambridge is like at primary level. What kind of learner does it best suit? Is it didactic or hands on? Etc etc etc.

Hi, crazy American education person here again :). Hope you get a notification and can help. Do you by chance know anything about Cambridge International Examinations? The only info I can really find is from the company's website trying to sell a product. I have had people tell me it is very similar...

This thread makes me wish this forum had a "like" button. For all but the one opinion dissenting from the secretnotsecret plan.

^^ Not to be construed in any way as a complaint about the format of the forum. There's just too much awesome here.

And I'm sorry but Frank >>>>>>> cake.

Re: Travelling and distance

Ah, I'm picturing a giant, fairly detailed globe (Google Earth in spherical form, perhaps), with just a red line tracing a particular person and exactly where their bodies have gone. Even for someone very world-traveled like Frank, I would think the amount of surface area NOT touched compared to tha...
