Re: Australia Tour - Melbourne

Bump if there's any newbies heading to Melbourne now that we're closer to the time. What about a cover of And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda. A powerful song - I like The Pogues version. It's 100 years since Gallipoli and ANZAC day / the start of the campaign is not long after the gig. Bit too hea...

Re: Australia Tour - Melbourne

I could get behind a Kylie cover. Understood on the obligations for gigs front. There's just a bit of a gap around that time (and also things like radio performances come - remember catching him in Philly at the World Cafe on a similar sorta thing). No Melbourne folks want to be my friend? :( will b...

Re: Australia Tour - Melbourne

And FT has a tradition of playing covers of famous local bands... any thoughts on an Australian artists song that'd make a good cover? My knowledge of their scene doesn't really go past Savage Garden.

Australia Tour - Melbourne

Hey all. It's been a while. I'll be going to the Corner Hotel gig on 15 April in Melbourne. Anyone from here heading there? I'm a long way from home and looking for some gig buddies. Equally any word on whether Frank is planning / playing any other 'secret' gigs around that time? Don't have a full t...

Re: Meeting Frank

Am I just exceptionally awkward but I've never really found any rapport post gig? He seems a nice enough chap but I don't really get what you chat about beyond cool gig, nice music? Kinda feel guilty that there's some sort of obligation to interact. We've all sort of shared experiences but we're sti...

Re: Cheap Accomodation for gigs

You could try couchsurfing.org - most of the larger cities have an active scene & if you're upfront about your plans generally someone won't mind you coming back late a little tipsy. Offer to bring them along :)

Re: The "Everything Is Shit" Thread

I say silly things. Also finally going to live the 'dream' of traveling for some time - any other time in my life this would be easy, these dicks have to make me all affectionate for them & make me want to stay to be around them. It's most frustrating. That's not the shit thing - it's just the mind ...

I hate you all. It looked ace. Three days of the FT crowd. Sun, drinks & awesome bands. You're all bastards.

Re: Southampton Joiners 24/06

Can someone drive me north please feel like I'm going to die :(

Was fantastic to hear Sleep and generally just a great setlist. Good to meet everyone. Helen walking into a crowded bar, hushing everyone and yelling "IS THERE A DOUGIE IN HERE" was a most effective way of finding gig buddies!

Re: Southampton Joiners 24/06

Checked into the Jurys Inn (again crash space if people find the need) - finally! Having some food then heading over - checked out the venue and it looks closed for now but there's a few pubs opposite. Will be on the look out for a marowak, a redneck & JL&TSS. I think you should wear the hat. I'll e...

Re: Southampton Joiners 24/06

Due to work being absolute mongs I'm having to make a site visit in Manchester first thing, so now having to drive. Aim to be on the road no later than 11. I'll be hitting all these motorways on the way. If anyone wants collecting from a service station (I'll not leave the motorway) let me know and ...

Ballad of the Caber Wielding Scot & the Sly Irish Giant

Hey excited to see what all you talented people have in store! It's new so I'll set the bar low. Waiting on you SB to top this. My good friend & I have two very tall beautiful friends; one ginger and one blonde. Lots of wine & an awesome chap on fiverr.com led to this monstrosity. The Ballad of the ...

Have emailed Fang. Thanks all for being swell.

The last smaller gig I got to was the charity bring a bucket @ Santiago's, that was fun!

Re: Southampton Joiners 24/06

Hey Helen that sounds fun and thanks for the offer. But am I right in thinking Portsmouth Harbour is about 20 minutes away by car? I think I'll book a place so that I'm not imposing too much. Depending what the cities like might be fun to stay out & about and wander. Thanks though. Email - nellie12 ...
