As always. Queued from 5.45am, got most of what I wanted except Joy Division and Mudhoney.

Re: Non-Frank Gigs

Went to see Status Quo on the 'Frantic Four' tour in Manchester last week. I'm sure there are some that think it's cool to scoff at the Quo, but I'll tell you what, it was a lesson in how to do a no bullshit rock n' roll show. That lineup ceased to exist around 1977 so there was none of the cheesy 8...

Re: More Barbara Allen

Haven't seen it. Looks like it was on here last summer - didn't watch much TV around that time as I was a little preoccupied with the arrival of our 1st child!

New Hold Steady album is out tomorrow as well, as is the Roger Daltrey and Wilko Johnson album.

Re: More Barbara Allen

I'd noticed that rose/briar difference from other versions too. There are so many versions around it's ridiculous. I just looked at the Penguin Book of English Folk Songs and the version in there makes no mention of the rose and the briar. Nor does it name the male as William, which many versions do...

Re: "My amp goes to 11"

I'm mainly a bassist - my main gear is a Schecter Diamond Series Omen 4 bass and an Ashdown Mag 300 combo amp. I also have an old Vintage bass, an Adam Black acoustic guitar, a Tanglewood 12 string acoustic, an Epiphone SG, a Barnes & Mullins banjitar, 2 cheap mandolins and a Brunswick tenor ukulele...

Re: i-Pod shuffle

It's a 120gb iPod and I think it's got about 5gb still free. Probably gone over 19000 now as I've just put 4 new albums on it.

Re: i-Pod shuffle

With almost 19000 songs on my iPod this might throw up some interesting stuff... 1. Small Upsetters - Clutch. From the Robot Hive/exodus album. I fucking love Clutch! 2. Pissing in a River - Patti Smith. From the Radio Ethiopia album, which is not as good as Horses IMO. 3. Why's Everybody Always Pic...

Re: Morrissey

I fucking love Morrissey. He says stuff just to get a reaction, once you realise that he's much more entertaining. And I love his music, especially his later period (You Are The Quarry onwards).

Re: Top 5 Bands/Artists

In no order:
Frank
Blur
Nirvana
Neil Young
Beatles

On another day I might well replace some of those with Iron Maiden, New Order, Morrissey, Guns N' Roses or Black Sabbath though.

Re: Gigs in 2013?

Only thing we have tickets for so far is Neil Young in Newcastle. We're expecting our first child in July so that may in fact be the only gig we go to this year, unless they are seated.

Re: Your all time Top 10 Frank Turner songs???

Been trying to figure out whether there are any songs that didn't get any votes - Sunshine State is the only one I can identify, anyone know of any others? I'm pretty sure every song from every album is there and all the original songs on 1st and 2nd three years apart from that one.
