Uh, just didn't flow that way for me when working out the tracklisting.

Not specifically - it was directly inspired (taken from) Lecons de Tenebres by Clive James - http://www.clivejames.com/poetry/recent/lecons

Re: What’s the new album called?

Hi Gary. The record is called Be More Kind. It'll be out in May, you'll be able to get the full thing then. Guitar (and sorry to hear about the chemical thing!), I guess it's really just a question of practice, you have to put the hours in. Growing up I used to play 4+ hours every day, just sitting ...

Re: 2018 tour- belfast

Hi there. We always try to make shows all ages, but often times venues have licensing agreements and so on that make that impossible. It's down to the venue (and indeed their relationship with local police), basically. Hope you work it out!

You could do a lot worse than starting with Ackroyd's Biography of London.

Re: The Elvis T-Shirt

Big fan; I have a big Elvis tattoo on my right forearm. Love Sun era, 68 Comeback special, and the later period Muscle Shoals stuff is great too. Got into his stuff through the Peter Guralnick biogs. Haven't been to Graceland yet (went to the parking lot once on tour, we couldn't afford to park, let...

In all honesty I've never been 100% clear on the difference myself. Better Half is kind of a waltz.

Re: Women in Music

Hello. Thanks! I know of Haim, I know people who work for them, but can't say I'm familiar with the music. I'm a huge fan of Nina Simone, Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, Kate Bush etc. Also loved all the L7 / Bikini Kill / Riot Grrl stuff.

Re: Songbook Versions

Thanks. the new melody lines are mostly just improvised in the studio really. Song podcasts are pretty cool; haven't been asked to do any as yet.

Re: Electronica influences?

I've listened to a fair chunk of electro stuff in the past. Had a real taste for Warp / City Centre Offices / glitchy type stuff when I was younger, a lot of Russian stuff, EU and the like, some of the more folktronic stuff too, Fourtet and so on. For the new record, while I guess some of that is in...

Re: Songs in Adverts

Hi there. I haven't been directly asked, so this answer is purely hypothetical. Billy Bragg has a pretty good line on this - back in the 70s-90s, bands made quite enough money from record sales, so doing an advert was (rightly) seen as spurious, greedy. These days it's a struggle for most bands to e...
